Mathieu Lamboley studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique of Paris where he got 5 first prizes (harmony, counterpoint, fugue and form, orchestration, piano).

He started his music to image career as an orchestrator, notably collaborating with Grégoire Hetzel for the movie Un Conte de Noël by Arnaud Desplechin. In 2004, he composed his first film soundtrack: Les oreilles n'ont pas de paupières by Étienne Chaillou, an animated movie which received the Great prize for the best sound creation in the short film category at the festival international du film d'Aubagne in 2005.

He was selected by the ASCAP (the american equivalent of the french SACEM) to participate in the 2006 Film music workshop of Los Angeles, which allowed him to record and conduct one of his symphonic composition with the Hollywood orchestra. He then collaborated with Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard who encouraged him to compose for the movie industry.

Inspired by Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky and John Williams, Mathieu Lamboley since has collaborated on numerous projects for the cinema, the television and advertising with various directors such as Laurent Tirard, Pascal Chaumeil, Julie Delpy, Emmanuel Carrère, Antonin Peretjatko orGuillaume Canet, and for animated movies with the music he composed for Minuscule : Les Mandibules du Bout du Monde byThomas Szabo andHélène Giraud, interpreted by the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France which he conducted on the occasion, a score that was very much noticed by the critique.

In 2018 he became a jury for the 5th Cinema and Film Music festival of la Baule with Catherine Jacob, Audrey Fleurot, Axelle Laffont, Philippe Kelly et Alex Jaffray.

In 2019 he became a jury for the Très court international film festival over presided by Michel Hazanavicius and remains the only french composers nomitated for the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards (Audience Award).

In 2020, he was nominated twice for an award of the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) with actors including John Powell, Christophe Beck ou Dan Levy, and won the UCMF award for best animated movie soundtrack.

The same year, he composed a soundtrack for the novel Le Discours by Fabrice Caro's cinematograhic adaptation directed by Laurent Tirard and starringBenjamin Lavernhe and Sarah Giraudeau, which was selected by the festival de Cannes. He then wrote the soundtrack of Antonin Peretjatko's next movie starring Anais Demoustier, Philippe Katerine and Josiane Balasko. Last he composed the soundtrack of La Fine Fleur by Pierre Pinaud starring Catherine Frot and Vincent Dedienne.

He was chosen to compose a soundtrack for the Netflix show Lupin, released in 2021 with Louis Leterrier as showrunner and staging Omar Sy, Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme and Nicole Garcia.

He is currently composing for a Netflix film.
