Homotherium latidens est une espèce éteinte de félidés appartenant au genre également éteint Homotherium. Elle a vécu en Europe durant le Pléistocène inférieur[1].
C'est l'espèce type du genre Homotherium, qui fait partie de la sous-famille des machairodontinés ou « félins à dents de sabre ».

Description
Ce grand carnivore avait une taille similaire à celle de son cousin américain Homotherium serum, c'est-à-dire environ 1,8 mètre de long et 1,1 mètre de haut.
Histoire de l'espèce
Selon fossilworks, l'espèce a existé de environ 781 000 à 12 000 ans[2].
