Mariko Iwadate (岩館 真理子, Iwadate Mariko ) est une dessinatrice de manga japonais. Elle est née le à Hokkaido, au Japon.
Biographie
Mariko Iwadate est née le Hokkaido, au Japon[1].
àElle commence sa carrière dans les années 1970 avec des manga Shōjo classiques de bonne qualité publié dans les magazines Margaret et Young You. Elle explore cependant des thèmes plus profonds, toujours avec humour et en 1980 s'affranchit du schéma traditionnel et conquis son public. Elle a d'ailleurs eu une influence notoire sur les travaux de la romancière Banana Yoshimoto.
En plus des thèmes du shōjo, elle développe le thème de la famille et sous couvert d'un graphisme romantique, elle s'intéresse aux relations sentimentales complexes entre les protagonistes. Ce trait, particulier à l'auteur, marque la combinaison de la littérature et du shōjo et s'illustre par le manga Angel en 1982.
