Elizabeth Robins Pennell (née le 21 février 1855 – morte le 7 février 1936) est une écrivaine américaine. Auteure prolifique pratiquant plusieurs styles, Pennell est reconnue pour certaines de ses biographies, dont celles de Mary Wollstonecraft, Charles Leland et James Abbott McNeill Whistler.

Elizabeth Robins grandit à Philadelphie. Sa mère meurt alors qu'elle est en bas âge et elle est envoyée en pension de l'âge de 8 ans à 17 ans. Guidée par les encouragements de son oncle Charles Leland, Robins décide d'entamer une carrière littéraire. Elle publie d'abord des articles dans des périodiques tels The Atlantic. Remarquée par Joseph Pennell, les deux commencent à travailler ensemble^[1].

Le premier livre d'Elizabeth Robins est une biographie de Mary Wollstonecraft (1759–1797). C'est la première biographie complète de Wollstonecraft depuis Memoirs of the Author of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman de William Godwin^[2]. Le livre est publié en 1884 par the Roberts Brothers (en) à Boston et par la Walter Scott Publishing Company (en) à Londres.

En juin de la même année, Elizabeth Robins épouse Joseph Pennell^[3].
